About The High Dune Inn

High Dune, as the house has always been named, was built around 1915 by a founding family on Fire Island (Dr. Irwin was an original island doctor and/or dentist). It was built in a classic Fire Island style by an early well known builder on the island. The house retains most of its' original charm but now has been completely renovated with modern upscale amenities.

It is located directly on the beach in the Village of Ocean Beach. The property is truly unique in that it is situated on about 3 ocean front acres with no homes on either side so the views are unobstructed and the grounds are very private (see the satellite photo on the Map page).

Formerly run as a Bed & Breakfast Inn, High Dune is a very large 3 level home with 4000 sq. ft., 12 rooms and 3 bathrooms. All the rooms are large and 4 bedrooms have direct ocean views. In 2005 the property was completely renovated and now features: a tremendous kitchen; all new windows and screens; new beds and upscale furniture; new bathrooms and a great 8 person hot tub; abundant storage; new bbq and bikes. There is also a new laundry room, A/C, Sat. TV, and a great outdoor shower. It truly is one of Ocean Beach's most premier properties.
